Is it possible to use a drill press as a milling machine ...
Mar 10, 2016 The biggest difference is speed. For instance most routers run 20k+ RPM, while a drill press might run between 600-3000 rpm. This is a HUGE Difference. A commercial milling machine might be able to handle 4000rpm or more, but does it with a mechanically moved milling bed, a vice and a 6-7hp motor. This has 'bad idea' written all over it.

End Mill vs Drill Bit - Tomboy Tools
Jul 20, 2021 A drill bit is used to dig holes into a surface. Though an end mill uses the same motion, it can cut sideways and widen the holes too. You can use both end mill and drill bit in a milling machine. But, you can never use an end mill in a drilling machine. Because you cannot hold a drilling machine securely to cut the sideways.
